Use Range with your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad as a leave-in oven thermometer, and get alerts on your other iOS device so you dont have to hover around the kitchen. Kitchen scientists—graph and save temperature data to experiment with your recipe. Or, use Range as an instant-read thermometer and get audio alerts to nudge you when your candy has hit the hard ball stage.

• Real-time temperature readings. Check the temperature over the Internet from any iOS device.
• Set rising or falling temperature alerts with a swipe of a finger.
• Remote alerts to all your iOS devices when your dish is done.
• USDA and gourmet presets for meat and candy make it even easier to cook a perfect dish.
• Minimal interaction. You want to cook, not futz with your phone. One-handed operation, 3D Touch presets from the home screen and monitoring temperatures on your lock screen makes you more efficient.

Pros and cons of Range cooking thermometer app for iPhone and iPad

Range cooking thermometer app good for

I was super excited to receive my Range after their Kickstarter campaign and after using it several times now, I can say its lived up to its hype. Love how the app shows cooking temperatures for main meats and how I can now accurately track cooking progress even when Im not standing in the kitchen. Well-designed hardware and app! Most of all, it makes cooking even more fun.
Ive been looking for a good reliable cooking thermometer for years. After finding the Range thermometer my quest has ended. The thermometer is very accurate and the app is easy to use and comes with a few basic ranges such as beef, pork, chicken, turkey and fish. There are also settings for cooking candy and boiling eggs. The app also lets you create your own temperature ranges if the pre-programmed ones are not enough.
My range arrived quickly after ordering online and it works great. At first I had problems using it with an older iPad, but the Supermechanical customer support guys worked fast to make changes and provide an update. Ive since used it on an iPhone and a new iPad Air 2 and they all work great. Lots of great features to help you make the perfect roast. I love it!
Would be great to get more precision, let say 1/100 or 1/10 degrees would be appreciated and possibly with a calibration capabilities..Could use it as a lab thermometer.
Great product - I use it all the time now for BBQ and oven. Great for timing roasts as you can see the rate of rising temperature. Love it.

Some bad moments

Forget William Sonoma or Brookstone, this is the best temperature probe and app hands down.
adding the ability to zoom in/out on the graph would be nice saving a list of presets would help save time.
Finally a high-quality iOS thermometer with alerts that works! Great job!
Love the remote alerts and how easy it is to set the temperature alert thresholds. The timer feature needs some work. Not sure how to set a 20 min alert, but this is no bit deal as the iPhone/iPad already has a good timer app.
Lovely device. The app is minimal but thats fine. Two critical bugs that make it three instead of five star: * Cross-device alerts are wildly unpredictable. Ive seen delays as low as 5 seconds and as long as 8-10 minutes on the same wifi network. * Alerts occasionally dont make noise and dont vibrate at all! I think it happens if you plug and unplug the range a few times while the app is open. Eventually alerts stop making sound. Both iPad and iPhone. Both of these features ensure that you dont burn your meat. Right now I cant trust that Ill be informed in a timely manner let alone at-all.
Nice idea, was vey excited to try. Doesnt appear to be compatible with grilling as the probe caught fire and burnt through to the wire.

Usually Range cooking thermometer iOS app used & searched for
